Have a Taste of the Sci-fi Adventure with Free Destiny Demo.

Players interested in trying out Destiny can now sample the game by downloading a limited time demo or trial for their current or last-gen console.

The Destiny demo is available on PS3 and Xbox 360, while the trial is available on PS4 and Xbox One.

Weighing in at about 6GB on last-gen consoles and 20GB on current-gen systems, the downloadable offerings let players sample character creation and progression, story mission content, plus cooperative and social activities.

Characters and progression will transfer over to the full game if players choose to upgrade after playing the demo or trial, provided they remain within the same console family.

Trial users on PS4 and Xbox One are able to instantaneously upgrade to the full game via their console's digital storefront, but those playing on last-gen consoles will need to purchase a digital or physical copy of the game independent of the demo.

A Bungie FAQ notes that Destiny is not compatible with certain PS3 and Xbox 360 models due to the game's hard drive requirements.

Bungie released a major Destiny update earlier this week in preparation for the launch of the first Destiny expansion, The Dark Below, on December 9.
