Free Games on Xbox One and Xbox 360 on July

Microsoft has announced the free games that Xbox Live Gold members will receive in July, and it includes four games in total--one of which was already made free during June.
As the Games with Gold program is still new to Xbox One (it only started earlier this month), we're still learning about how Microsoft will handle things. It seems that the free games offered won't necessarily be swapped out every month, as Max: The Curse of Brotherhood--one of the two free games in June--will remain free throughout July. Halo: Spartan Assault, on the other hand, will go back to its regular price on July 1, when Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition will be made free in its place.
On the Xbox 360, Gotham City Impostors will be the free title beginning on July 1. On July 16, it will be replaced for the remainder of the month by BattleBlock Theater.
The Games with Gold initiative works a lot like PlayStation Plus' Instant Game Collection on Xbox One. Xbox Live Gold members only have access to the games included for as long as they remain Gold subscribers, although they can continue to play the free games they've downloaded even after their original price is reinstated.

Scalebound is exclusive to Xbox One.

Platinum's next game, Scalebound, is an Xbox One-exclusive action title, game director Hideki Kamiya revealed during Microsoft's E3 2014 press briefing.
A trailer for Scalebound showed off a jungle setting, with a soldier accompanied by a massive dragon that takes out a smaller creature. Next, the human, his large sword and the dragon attack a hydra-like beast.
Scalebound will offer "action at a whole new scale," said Kamiya. He did not give a release window for the title.
Platinum's most recent projects are two Wii U titles — The Wonderful 101, which launched last year, and Bayonetta 2, which is currently in development. Prior to that, the studio developed Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, which was released last February on PlayStation 3, Windows PC and Xbox 360.

Fighting For Freedom In The Impressive Homefront: The Revolution

Set in 2029, four years after the original Homefront game, Crytek has chosen to bring guerilla warfare to the streets of Philedelphia in Homefront: The Revolution. The game blends open game exploration with guerilla warfare tactics to try and set Homeland: The Revolution apart from its strong FPS competition.

It's been quite a few years between the Homefront games and that's due to the original publisher THQ going down the drain. Crytek picked up the franchise and has built Homefront: The Revolution on the latest Cryengine, which has let it create a vast open world with a dynamic weather and day/night system.

The Homefront story started back in 2025 when North Korea invaded America and The Revolution has taken the game to Philedelphia where the Korean People's Army (KPA) has set up their capital. You play as a regular civilian who has had to learn how to shoot a gun and is now part of the resistance.

You'll need to use guerilla warfare tactics like sabotage, infiltration and salvaging to build up the resistance army and your own skills in order to fight the asymmetrical battles, as the KPA vastly overpowers you in number and power.

Xbox One: Snap Mode For Achivements with the New Update

The next Xbox One system update will enhance achievement tracking and the console's Snap feature, among other upgrades arriving in July, Microsoft said on Friday.
Achievements now get a Snap Mode (pictured above), as was mentioned before Microsoft's E3 news conference on Monday. "Achievement Snap" allows the user to track his or her progress in a separate window without leaving the game. A "get help" option will send the Xbox One searching for tips and strategy content for achievements a user hasn't completed.
Additionally, the option to double-tap a controller button to bring up Snap, or to switch between Snapped applications, also will be introduced.
Other features include support for New Zealand and Ireland in English-language voice control, and Austria in the German language option. Users also will be able to register their "like" of a game DVR clip.

Second Round of Kick-Assery With 'Killer Instinct' Season 2

During its pre-E3 press conference, Microsoft announced that Killer Instinct: Season 2 would hit the Xbox One this fall. Iron Galaxy Games, which introduced the two-button fighting game Dive Kick last year, is developing the new season of downloadable content. Iron Galaxy is taking over from Double Helix, which has been acquired by Amazon.
Dave Lang, CEO of Iron Galaxyy, told Polygon that Killer Instinct: Season 2 is "probably the biggest thing we've ever done. This is an amazing opportunity to work on a game and a genre we are super passionate about."
A fighting game series created by Rare, Killer Instinct originally hit arcades back in 1994. The game spawned a sequel in 1996, but generated no other titles until last year’s Xbox One reboot. The new installment received mostly positive reviews, scoring a 73 out of 100 on the review-aggregate site Metacritic.
The teaser trailer for Killer Instinct: Season 2 introduces the next downloadable character: TJ Combo, a disgraced heavyweight champion and an original playable from the first two games. The teaser can be seen below, with Combo showing off strings of...well, combos.
