Zombie Survival MMO H1Z1 is About to Come on PS4.

Fans have been curious as they watch the development of the zombie survival MMO H1Z1 over at Sony Online Entertainment. The game takes a lot from pre-existing titles in the genre and appears to make improvements. The title, planned as a free-to-play title hasn’t really talked about PlayStation 4 development, until now.

H1Z1008EarlyAccess

After asking John Smedley, President of Sony Online Entertainment via Twitter if he could at some point announce PlayStation 4 version, he immediately replied with the following tweet: “We’re doing a PS4 version after the PC.” Now that a PlayStation 4 version is confirmed as happening, we can only hope that the PC version get’s into good position with the early access opening up soon.

Steam Early Access will allow users to get in on the ground floor of development of H1Z1 as they progress and will run you $19.99. Early access opens up on January 15th with roughly 64,000 kilometers for players to roam around in. More info is available at the Reddit Page where John Smedley posted to their loyal H1Z1 fanbase regarding the announcement. They cautioned fans that this is not a finished product and if that is what they are expecting out of the early access to not purchase it. The goal is to have players help mold it into what they want it to become.

Those who purchase the console from a retailer will be given an informational code that they need to enter in the PlayStation website.

Gamers can purchase the console from different retailers in the U.S. as it is not offered in other countries.  The end date of the promo is still unspecified, but many guess that it will last until Christmas. The bundle costs $400 inclusive of the digital game, thus exchange of the game is not allowed.

The promo is similar to Microsoft's offer back in September when Xbox One consoles were sold with a free game for $400. The promo spiked the sales of Xbox One and reports state that it has overtaken the sales of its rival from Sony.
PlayStation 4 is one of the most wanted gaming devices and a lot of new game titles are being built maximizing every feature of the console.

Meanwhile, PlayStation marked its 20th year by releasing a limited edition retro-style PS4 that was sold out in minutes after its release. The device sports the original gray color of the first PlayStation console complete with the original logo. The limited edition of the console comes with DualShock 4, PlayStation Camera, and vertical stand. The nostalgic appearance of the console attracted a lot of gamers.

Sony sold the device, which is now out-of-stock, for $499 in Sony's website. Due to the overwhelming demand, the PS4 limited edition appeared in eBay with bidding value as high as $22,500.

Borderlands Remastered gonna Hit Next-Gen Consoles?

Borderlands, the RPG-like shooter which went on to sell more than 5 million units, is likely coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 as a deluxe remastered edition.

Publishing label 2K Games has yet to officially announce the next-gen update, but a listing on the Australian Classification Board appears to have revealed the publisher’s plans prematurely. Little else can be gathered from the listing, though it does suggest that 2K Australia--which was the principal developer of Borderlands: The pre-Sequel--has been delegated duties to build the port.

Remastered updates of popular last-gen games have become a common feature of the gaming calendar. Tomb Raider Definitive Edition, The Last of Us Remastered, and Grand Theft Auto 5 are some of the most popular re-releases on next-gen systems.

Gearbox Software, the creator of the Borderlands series, recently suggested that it was the comparatively low installed-base of the next-gen consoles that convinced it to ship Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel on last-gen machines only.

Xbox One Wins after Months!

Xbox One consoles sold at a record-breaking pace in November, Microsoft claimed Thursday, citing data from research firm NPD. The Xbox One also unseated the reigning champ of the console market — Sony’s Playstation 4 — for the first time in nearly a year.

alt text

Sales of Microsoft’s latest console were buoyed by a strong lineup of new gaming titles and aggressive Black Friday discounts. Microsoft lopped $50 off of the Xbox One’s retail price and bundled free games into package deals.

“We are amazed by the excitement Xbox fans have shown to start off this holiday,” said Mike Nichols, vice president of Xbox marketing, in a statement. “November set a new record for sales of Xbox One, and Xbox One was the best-selling console in the U.S. and U.K.”

Nonetheless, Gamespot reports that sales across the entire console market declined year over year, also citing NPD. An analyst for the group noted that sales slackened not only for the previous generation of consoles, as expected, but also for the newest generation, which accounted for 38% of the overall decline.

First "Evil Within" DLC Coming Next Year.

alt text

Bethesda Softworks has announced that the first DLC release for The Evil Within will be arrive in early 2015. Entitled The Assignment, the new content will be the first of two DLC expansions focusing on Juli Kidman, the mysterious partner of Detective Sebastian Castellanos.

"We approached the DLC from the perspective that, while Juli is enigmatic during the main game, there were additionally lots of other mysteries about the world and the characters that could be cleared up or hinted at by playing as her. She is a character who seems rather 'aware' of her situation, after all," John Johanas, the game director of The Assignment, explained on the Bethesda Blog.

"Early on, we listed the things that we wanted to answer and ones we wanted to keep open and worked around that. We definitely leave some of the mysteries open, but I feel we shed a lot of light on the lore of Ruvik, STEM, and the characters while asking (and answering) a whole new set of questions regarding Juli and her mission."

Johanas said the two sections of the original game that had the greatest impact on the DLC are chapter five, "where you were trapped in a very oppressive are of the game and the horror element was at its strongest," and chapter nine, which was more about exploration and solving puzzles to uncover more of the story behind the game. Juli is also "much livelier" than Sebastian, so there will be more banter and commentary during play.

The Assignment will be the first of three DLC releases included in The Evil Within season pass, which goes for $20. Individual DLC pricing and a specific release date have not yet been set.

Enter Next-Gen with PS4 + Four Other Games!

This holiday shopping season has already seen some pretty good discounts from retailers trying to move new game consoles, including Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals bundling up to two free games with a $400 PlayStation 4. Now that those feeding frenzies are over, Sony has jumped in to officially add a bundled game to the $400 PlayStation 4 package for the first time.

As part of Sony's "Four Games, One Pick" promotion, new PS4 systems will now come with a voucher that can be redeemed online to download a copy of either Destiny, Far Cry 4, NBA 2K15, or Little Big Planet 3. The 500GB systems still sell for the same MSRP of $399.99, a price Sony hasn't lowered since the system first went on sale late last year. Sony previously offered a Glacier White PS4 system bundled with Destiny, but that package came at a suggested price of $450. It's unclear how long the free game offer will last.

Sony's move comes after Microsoft lowered the price of the Xbox One to $350 (including packages with bundled games) as part of a holiday season promotion running at least through January 3. Prior to that, Microsoft had offered lower prices and free game bundles on Xbox One hardware throughout the year.

At this point, it's hard to say how the $350 price has affected the Xbox One's holiday sales, but market analysis firm Infoscout says Microsoft's system sold roughly two-thirds better than the PS4 on Black Friday based on data from its panel of shoppers. Sony's free game offer could be an indication that it's seeing Microsoft's console make gains on the PS4's worldwide sales advantage through September, or it could just be an unrelated plan to attract more buyers this holiday season. Whatever the case, the continued competition between Sony and Microsoft in this console generation seems to be paying dividends for consumers.

Microsoft gonna Publish "Rise of the Tomb Raider".

Xbox head of marketing, Aaron Greenberg, has confirmed that Microsoft is the publisher for Rise of the Tomb Raider on Xbox One.

The news was announced via Twitter when a user asked Greenberg who was publishing Rise of the Tomb Raider; Microsoft or Square Enix?

alt text

Although there are no details about what the arrangement entails – such as what elements of the game Microsoft is covering, be it marketing, development, or distribution costs – we reached out to Square Enix and received the following statement.

"Yes, Microsoft will be publishing Rise of the Tomb Raider on Xbox. Microsoft has always seen huge potential in Tomb Raider and they will get behind this game with more support across development, marketing and retail than ever before, which we believe will be a step in continuing to build the Tomb Raider franchise as one of the biggest in gaming."

Earlier this year, in August, developer Crystal Dynamics confirmed the game's exclusivity deal, clarifying that it is in fact a timed-exclusive.

"Yes, our deal with Microsoft has a duration. We aren’t discussing details of the deal, and are focused on delivering a great game on Xbox One and Xbox 360," Crystal wrote in a Tumblr post.

"We did not make this decision lightly. Our goal is to build the best game that we possibly can, and our relationship with Microsoft will help us realize our vision for the game.

"We certainly didn’t intend to cause any confusion with the announcement. The Microsoft Gamescom stage was a great place to make the initial announcement, but not necessarily to go into details."

Twitch App on Xbox One Gets an Update.

The Twitch app on Xbox One is getting a update to make it easier for Xbox Twitch users to find what they want to watch.

The new update will also use Xbox Live to associate real-time gameplay statistics with Twitch broadcasts.

alt text

What does that mean exactly? Well, should a viewer want to watch a specific game stream, with specific stats, they can do so by cycling through different filters such as player stats, game modes, maps, player skill level, in-game activity, or progress. So instead of just searching 'CoD: AW stream' in Twitch, the app update now lets users tweak search parameters. This should hypothetically enable you to spend a match watching a Call of Duty stream broadcaster who holds the highest kill/death ratio.

Other examples we were given include instantly queing up for a Halo match based on who has the highest rank in Slayer mode or discovering Forza Horizon 2 players driving who are a specific type of car.

Elsewhere in the update, Xbox One users can now view Twitch videos on demand, which allows Twitchers to watch past broadcasts at any time, irrelevant of whether the broadcaster is online or offline.

The Banner Saga 2 Coming in 2015.

The Banner Saga 2 has been confirmed for release on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2015.

We knew that indie developer Stoic was crafting a sequel to its stylish strategy role-playing game, but this is the first we've heard of its launch platforms.

Stoic - a three-man team made up of former BioWare employees - has said that the sequel will continue the epic Norse storyline of the series' first adventure. A third title is planned to wrap up the tale.

The original Banner Saga arrived for PC earlier this year to high acclaim, and is being ported to both PS4 and PlayStation Vita early next year.

There's no word yet on an Xbox One launch for the series' opening chapter.

"The critical reception and widespread fan appreciation for The Banner Saga is overwhelming and humbling," Stoic co-owner and art director Arnie Jorgensen said, "and has the team at Stoic dedicated to delivering a fantastic sequel. We couldn't be more excited."

Details Revealed for The Heists DLC of GTA 5.

alt text

The Heists DLC is coming to all consoles this month, according to YouTube user and "Grand Theft Auto" tipster DomisLive.

In a recent video, he addressed a fan query which asked whether Rockstar Games has ripped [off] Xbox 360 and PS3 users. He claimed that everyone's getting a fair share, and that DLCs in the future are likewise coming to all consoles -- Xbox 360 and PS3 included. Fun isn't just for PS4 and Xbox One players, after all.

In another video, DomisLive cited one tipster who revealed a set of interesting Cops n Crooks (CnC) missions.

The first one he named is the "Prison Van Rescue" CnC Mission. Accordingly, "Criminals must intercept a news van that is driven by NPCs to free a gang member and then take him back to the gang house." Here we envision a gang member getting in trouble, and the outright job is to bring him back to the gang house safely -- despite possible hurdles in the process.

DomisLive read the second mission as the "Weapons Deal" CnC Mission. For this, players will have to carry out a sting operation in the attempt of saving a hostage and taking him to a police station. International Business Times reported that the hostage or wanted criminal serves as a trade-off for cops in exchange for weapons and cash.

The third mission, called "Hostage Deal" CnC Mission, asks players to prevent hostages from being transferred among NPC gangs. Cops will be covering the area in positions, as bikers try to recover the hostages. As usual, the cops' job is to intercept the bikers and free the hostages.

The last in DomisLive's list requires gang members to steal an artifact from a military base. On the other hand, cops will attempt to secure the artifact and bring it back. DomisLive added that Lawson sea members learn about the stolen artifact; as a result, they will try to ambush opponents before the coveted artifact is sent back.

These leaked missions follow an earlier report from Latin Times, which took note of DomisLive's revelation of the "Country Bank Heist" and the "Ornate Bank Heist." The outlet cited Rockstar's traditional releases that fall on a Tuesday or Thursday.

The source predicted that the Christmas DLC arrives for "Grand Theft Auto V" on Dec. 23. Meanwhile, the Heists DLC was assumed to come out on either Dec. 16 or Dec. 23. Interestingly, these are all Tuesdays.

What do you think about the leaked Cops n Crooks missions? How long have you been waiting for Heists?

You Can Finally Play Minecraft on your Xbox One!

Minecraft has been around for just a little more than 5 years now and if you have not heard of the very popular video game, you might have been disconnected from the internet too long. Minecraft has been popular since the original developer sold the game to Mojang back in 2009. The game allows users to construct 3D worlds out of textured cubes, as well as allowing users to explore, gather resources, craft and combat other areas of the world that have been developed by other gamers.

alt text

The original version of the game was released for the computer back in 2009 with the full version of the game being released in 2011. Since video game consoles have become so popular, it was not long before the company realized they needed to be available for them as well. This week, the company that developed the game said that the game is now available for the Xbox One. The new Xbox One has only been available for a short time now, so users were not waiting too long for the Xbox One version.

Minecraft is an award winning game can now be played on the improved Xbox One allowing users to use worlds that are more than 30 times larger compared to what users on the Xbox 360 and PS3 are used to. If you never played the game, you might not even notice the change, but those that are dedicated to the game will notice the change in the gameplay right away.

The Xbox One version is going to allow for a few different styles of gameplay, including creative mode which allow users to build at their leisure without the threat of any danger and survival mode, which allows you to gather the materials needed to build a hideout and survive by defending your new castle from all sorts of monsters. There are monsters in the game, but nothing as violent as some of the games that you see on the market these days.

Minecraft can get violent, however, the game hardly every goes that direction. Attacking animals for food or fighting other characters in the game, as well as being attacked by other players is a possibility. The game has been developed in such a way that every aspect of it can be destroyed, but the game is more centered around creating rather than destroying.

Those that are familiar with the game will love the new version for the popular gaming console and should find it packed with family friendly fun that can last for hours at a time.

Grim Fandango Remastered Release Date Announced.

It’s a busy weekend for the folks at Double Fine. On Saturday, the game developer made two big announcements at this year’s PlayStation Experience event in Las Vegas: a release date for Grim Fandango Remastered and the comeback of another classic LucasArts game.

alt text

First, Grim Fandango Remastered: Double Fine says that its remastered version of LucasArts’ classic 1998 adventure game will arrive on January 27, 2015. Double Fine will release versions for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, as well as for Windows, OS X, and Linux.

Sony featured the updated, modernized game in its E3 press conference back in June, and at the time, it sounded as if it would be a PlayStation exclusive. Tim Schafer, who created the original game (and just happens to be Double Fine’s founder), confirmed a month later that Grim Fandango Remastered would indeed be available on the PC.

Grim Fandango Remastered will offer higher-resolution graphics compared to the original, a new soundtrack performed by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and an updated control scheme, among other things.

Speaking of retro revivals, Double Fine also announced that it’s working on a special edition of Day of the Tentacle, a LucasArts title from 1993. Double Fine doesn’t have much else to announce on that front right now, but the company says it’ll release more details on that effort “down the road,” so you’ll have to be patient for now.

Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Delayed AGAIN?!

alt text

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has experienced a second delay until May 19, 2015, developer CD Projekt Red has announced.

An open letter explains the game's ambition means there are still bugs that need to be fixed and some features are not yet working correctly. As a result, the game has been pushed back by 12 weeks.

"Ever since we started working on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we knew it would be an ambitious game," it begins. "We wanted, and still aim, to give you an incredible experience, an epic adventure in a vast, completely open fantasy universe.

"The sheer size and complexity of The Witcher, key features of the title, have had a decisive impact on production. Now, nearing the end of our work, we see many details that need to be corrected. When we release the most important game in our studio’s history, we must be absolutely sure that we did everything we could to limit any bugs to a level that will allow you to enjoy the game thoroughly.

"With this in mind, we took another look at current workloads and what they mean for the team. Even though everyone is working at full speed, we concluded that we need another 12 weeks, so we are shifting the release date of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to May 19th, 2015.

"We owe you an apology. We set the release date too hastily. It’s a hard lesson, one to take to heart for the future. We know what we want to do to make Wild Hunt one of the best RPGs you will ever play. And we continue to work hard to achieve just that. So, we apologize and ask for your trust."

Seeing as the upcoming RPG will have over 100 hours of content along with and an all-star cast, it isn't surprising that CD Projekt Red is taking its time to make sure the game is all it can be.

Killing Floor 2 Announced for PS4!

Cooperative horror first-person shooter Killing Floor 2 is coming to the PlayStation 4, developer Tripwire Interactive and Sony announced today at the PlayStation Experience Event in Las Vegas.
Like the first Killing Floor released in 2009, Killing Floor 2 lets a team of up to six players take on waves of monstrous enemies called Zeds. As Tripwire said when it first announced the game for PC earlier this year, the sequel aims to improve on the original with its new, proprietary M.E.A.T. System (Massive Evisceration And Trauma), which introduces greatly improved enemy damage models, and a mix of realistic and "Mad Scientist" weapons.

"As a fiercely independent developer we have always wanted to ensure that when we made the leap to consoles it would be on our terms," Tripwire Interactive President John Gibson said. "We've been extremely impressed with Sony's openness and fairness when dealing with developers both large and small."

Killing Floor 2 is slated for release in 2015. Tripwire hasn't didn't say the game is exclusive to the PS4 or if it has plans to bring it to Xbox One as well.

Details on Bloodborne's Co-op Mode and Gameplay.

During a Bloodborne panel today at the PlayStation Experience, the game's director, Hidetaka Miyazaki, went even more in-depth than the keynote earlier in the day.
alt text

Here's a quick run-down of a few of Miyazaki's notes from the panel:
  • Over 10 maps in the world.
  • Each map is unique with it's own "situation."
  • The Chalice dungeon is a multi-layered map located in the city's lower levels
  • Procedurally generated, but massive, spanning the entire underground area of the city.
  • Each area in the underground has a holy chalice; finding that allows you to break the seal and access another section.
  • By multi-layer, that means there are three layers to present different surprises and traps to widen the game's strategy
  • After generating your dungeon through the Holy Chalice ritual, it stays fixed. That allows players the opportunity to master each dungeon while still providing "fresh and interesting" experiences.
  • Assume the difficulty level of the dungeons is high. They won't be easy to breeze through.
  • Like Demon's Souls, the focus on is on the sense of accomplishment and achievement after clearing a dungeon.
  • Increase the scale of sharing. Players will be able to share generated dungoens and the methods they used to complete them. You can narrow those down to specific communities or just a close group of friends.
  • The Chalice Dungeon isn't tied into the main story; it's optional.
And points from the Q&A:
  • Character customization will be about on level with Dark Souls II, but there will also be some unique features. As an action-RPG, it'll have everything "to be expected from an RPG."
  • The team is working to keep the game running at the highest frame rate they can, and the final specifications will depend on what works best for the experience.
  • There is PvP in the game.
  • There might be something along the lines of the fight in Dark Souls II where you took on the role of a boss and fought against another player.
  • The concept of dying and Hollowing from Demon's/Dark Souls will exist in some form in Bloodborne as well.
  • The dungeon you saw during the keynote was made for the presentation; the actual dungeons will be much larger and more complex.
  • The boss characters are also part of the randomly generated element.

Arena Shooter "Drawn to Death" Coming to PS4.

David Jaffe, the creator of the God of War series, has announced Drawn to Death, a multiplayer third-person shooter that takes place inside of a student's notebook.

Jaffe described the game as a third-person, four player arena shooter, which is both fast-paced and tactical.

"Drawn To Death will be an arena shooter like you’ve never played before," Jaffe said. "Part of the reason for this is our unique gameplay. And part of the reason is that the game takes place inside the notebook of a very creative teenage kid; it’s a violent and bizarre landscape filled with all of the weird, amazing, passionate, and exciting fantasies that are swimming around in the head of our teenage artist."

Jaffe said that the wide variety of playable characters will have different weapons, special abilities and buffs. Some of these are obvious, and some of these players will have to discover over time, long after the game launches, Jaffe said.

Jaffe revealed the game at Sony's PlayStation Experience event in Las Vegas today, and said it's a collaboration between his new studio, The Bartlet Jones Supernatural Detective Agency, and Sony's San Diego Studio.

Finally, Jaffe said players can sign up for early access and a limited in-game mystery item at drawntodeath.com.

New God of War Game?!

alt text

A new game in the God of War series is in development at Sony Santa Monica, the studio's Creative Director Cory Barlog let slip today at the PlayStation Experience event in Las Vegas.

Barlog confirmed that the game was in development in response to a question from a fan during the God of War retrospective panel. According to a tweet from Santa Monica Studio's official account, he probably wasn't supposed to.

According to a report from IGN, Barlog said the game was definitely not going to be a prequel, but it might be a reboot for the series. Barlog also said the game is very early in development, and that he hoped to share more in the next year or two.

God of War III director Stig Asmussen left Sony Santa Monica back in march. He did not work on God of War: Ascension, the last game in the series released in 2013, and was reportedly leading development on a new IP that Sony canceled as part of a round of layoffs.

Santa Monica Studios announced several games at the PlayStation Experience today.

Based on its debut trailer below, it doesn't look particularly point-and-clicky and appears to be more of a third-person puzzle platformer along the lines of something like Tomb Raider, only with little to no combat.

King's Quest is coming to PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC in autumn 2015.
