GTA 5 Patch Fixes Transfer Issues on Next-Gen Consoles.

Rockstar Games has issued an emergency fix for a major bug found within the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Grand Theft Auto 5.

Some users who purchased a new-gen edition of the game found they were unable to migrate their save data and details across from the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions.

At E3 in June, Rockstar Games announced that those who bought the last-gen version of GTA 5 would be able to transfer their save file over to the PS4 or Xbox One editions. This isn't restricted by console, so a PS3 user could transfer their save to the Xbox One, and an Xbox 360 owner could upload their content to the PS4.

But one unforeseen error blocks this feature if those who own the last-gen version of GTA V have not played it at any point in 2014.

Rockstar acknowledged the problem on Tuesday, hours into the game's release, and late in the day had uploaded a patch for the PlayStation 4 version. It claimed this has fixed the issue, and hours later said the patch is now also available for Xbox One.

However, the publisher warned that, occasionally, downloading the PS4 patch could return an error marked as CE-32937-4. Writing on its official website, Rockstar says the patch will need to be downloaded again if users are shown this error code.

GTA 5 for PS4 and Xbox One released across North America and the UK on November 18. A PC release is scheduled for January 27.
