The December's Deals for PS4.

December is a great time to buy a PS4, and while you won’t find huge trade in bonuses for an old console, there are a lot of PS4 deals that include over $100 in free games or accessories. This includes PS4 games you’ll actually want to play, like The Last of Us Remastered, GTA 5 for PS4 and other kid-friendly options.

We’ll also show you where you can buy a used PS4 for $265 if you need to save big on the up front cost of buying a new PS4. This is the lowest price you’ll find for a PS4 up front, but for some shoppers a new PS4 with multiple games and a free PS4 Camera is a better deal.

Some of these December PS4 deals beat what we saw on Black Friday, and most of them are available online or in stores so you can shop however is easiest for you.

After a year, there are already a number of great PS4 games you can buy right now to build your library, and you don’t need to spend $60 for many of the games. There are also a lot of PS4 game deals on hits like Madden 15, FIFA 15 and Destiny to help you build up your gaming library.

There are no PS3 trade in bonus or Xbox 360 trade in bonus offers towards the PS4 yet, but you may find one sometime during the month.

PS4 Deals December

You can’t drop the price of a new PS4 in December, but you will find deals that save $100 or more with free games and accessories. The up front price is normally $399 and you won’t find a discount on a new PS4 this month at most retailers. You will likely see these December PS4 deals end quickly as retailer sell through the bundles, so don’t wait for the last-minute.

The PS4 Black Friday Bundle is still on sale at Best Buy and GameStop which includes a PS4, The Last of Us Remastered (digital) and GTA 5 plus the single controller that comes with the game. This bundle is $399, the same price as a new PS4 without a bundle. If you want to buy a PS4, this is the one you should buy, even if you plan to trade or sell the games.
When you buy this PS4 bundle at GameStop online, you also get a free PS4 Camera. This includes some voice control options, the ability to scan your face into NBA 2K15 and acts as a controller for some games. It may not be worth paying for these features, but when it is included as a free option it is certainly something you don’t want to pass up.
If you are looking for a PS4 deal that is more geared towards kids, Walmart offers the PS4 with Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham and LittleBigPlanet 3 for $399. This is available online but there is an in store pickup option available. This includes a single controller.

Used PS4 Deals

For gamers on a budget, you can buy a used PS4 from CowBoom for $265.99. This is a well-known reseller of used systems, so you can trust their pricing and ratings.

You’ll want to search through the various used PS4 listings to find one that includes a controller and the cables you need to connect to your HDTV. Most of the consoles include cometic damage from scratches. A new PS4 tends to show scratches on the glossy part after a month of use anyway, so you can always buy a skin like those featured in our holiday gift guide to cover up the scratches.

"Massive Progress" on the Upcoming Gears of War Game for Xbox One.

Microsoft-owned developer Black Tusk Studios is making "massive progress" on the upcoming Gears of War game for Xbox One. That's according to Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, who this week met with the team, including studio head Rod Fergusson, in Vancouver and had positive things to say about what he saw.

Microsoft acquired the Gears of War franchise from creator Epic Games in January of this year. Official details about the game haven't been announced, but Spencer says it's not a reboot.

"The thing that was great about the early Gears of War games, to me, [was] just the epic scale of the settings that I was in," he said back in October. "The story, the setting was a lot more what I would call soulful and maybe even a little dark. And [Rod Fergusson] and I have talked about this; I think the game over time became almost more of a parody of itself; not for any kind of horrible reasons. It's hard to continue to manage the IP."

"And Gears 2 did well, Gears 3 did well. So I thought the franchise continued to grow. But we've talked about getting back to something … I think the story and the setting and what they're going through ... in a Gears of War--the name of the game, it really meant something to what that game was about. We've got to get back to that. The feeling of those individuals."

What are you looking for from the upcoming Xbox One Gears of War game?

"The Elder Scrolls Online" is Delayed as a New Update is Offered for Current Versions.

alt text

The Elder Scrolls Online is currently playable on PS4 and Xbox One, but "there's still some work to do", according to the game's director.

In a new blog post, Matt Firor explains development is progressing but the team wants to launch the title with both the upcoming Justice and Champion systems already implemented. As they're not due to enter testing on the PC version until January, it's likely we're going to be waiting a little longer.

"We have been (and will continue to be) steadily working on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of ESO," he writes. "They are playable and fun right now, but there's still some work to do before we can set an official launch date. First and foremost, we want to make sure that two of our most important systems still in development—the Justice and Champion Systems—are included in the console release. Those two systems will introduce a huge amount of content to the game, and we know everyone is looking forward to the new types of gameplay they provide.

"It’s also important to note that the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of ESO are not just ports of the PC/Mac game. We have completely replaced the PC user interface with a console-specific UI designed from the ground-up with a controller and a living room play experience in mind. We’ve also added voice chat and full integration with XBL and PSN. Expect to see lots of news about our console versions in early 2015."

Elsewhere in the post, Firor elaborates on what to expect in January's Update 6, explaining the Champion System will revamp the endgame content of the MMO, while the Justice System will be rolled out in phases. The first phase, coming early next year, will be Skyrim-esque in that you'll be able to pickpocket and kill NPCs with guards punishing you for such acts, while the PvP elements will come somewhere down the line once developer Zenimax is sure everything's working as intended.

The PS4 and Xbox One versions of the MMO were supposed to hit this year, but were delayed.

Street Fighter 5 ONLY on PS4 and PC.

This morning a Capcom video briefly popped up online confirming Street Fighter 5 and that it would be a PlayStation 4 and Windows PC exclusive, according to a NeoGaf thread.

The video, which has since been removed, talks about "rising up" and breaking through your ceiling. It concludes with a shot of the logo for the game and the words "exclusively on PS4 and PC." It also includes a link to what appears to be the future landing page for the new game, though the page isn't live yet.

Of course the word "exclusive" has so many different meanings in the video game industry that it's hard to tell if this game will never show up on an Xbox platform, or if it will just show up there later.

It appears the video was set live accidentally a bit early. This weekend two events promise to have a number of new trailers, news and game reveals. The first ever Game Awards kick off tonight in Las Vegas and the PlayStation Experience officially starts on Saturday. Street Fighter executive producer Yoshinori Ono tweeted early this morning that he had just arrived in Las Vegas for the PlayStation Experience.

The Troubled Launch of Driveclub has Left Sony's Reputation Untouched.

PlayStation 4 racing game Driveclub's release in October did not go smoothly. However, the launch wasn't so terrible that it damaged Sony's reputation in the eyes of gamers, according to one Sony executive. PlayStation Europe boss Jim Ryan explained in a new interview that fans understand that mistakes do happen, especially "in a world that's becoming more and more technically complicated."

alt text

"We have to acknowledge that there have been problems and we're really sorry to anyone who has suffered from those issues," Ryan told MCV. "They shouldn't happen. But in a world that's becoming more and more technically complicated, it's getting harder to deliver stuff. That's not an excuse, because you shouldn't really launch a game before it's ready. And clearly we've made mistakes and we apologize for that."

Ryan went on to say that he doesn't believe Driveclub's launch woes have slowed PS4's incredible momentum or diminished Sony's standing as it relates to how gamers perceive the PlayStation brand.

"Has it dampened our momentum? No. Has it damaged our reputation? I don't think so," Ryan said. "People understand that mistakes do get made so as long as you apologize and make them right. That's the main thing."

Driveclub launched in early October, and was immediately beset by various technical troubles. Developer Evolution Studios even had to limit some functionality, and the game's promised PlayStation Plus version--a free edition of the game for subscribers--is still without a release date.

"When you spend £50/£60 on a game you're entitled to expect that it works," Ryan added. "If we or anyone else in the industry makes mistakes you should fess up to it and then put it right as soon as possible."

Last month, PlayStation president Shawn Layden suggested that it was technically impossible to test for the kind of numbers that Driveclub saw on launch day. To make it up to fans, Sony offered some Driveclub DLC to all players.

Another high-profile game, Battlefield 4, suffered launch woes upon its initial release in October 2013. These troubles "absolutely" damaged player trust in EA and DICE, one of the game's producers said. However, EA management maintains that the Battlefield brand's commercial appeal was unaffected by Battlefield 4's rocky launch.

Deus Ex Universe Will not be an MMO?!

In a blog post describing its new game engine, Eidos Montreal said Deus Ex Universe will not be an MMO.

"As you can imagine, the Dawn Engine will form the cornerstone for all Deus Ex Universe projects at Eidos-Montreal," said community manager Sacha Ramtohul. "Some of you have had concerns that 'Universe' meant 'MMO.' Rest assured, it does not."

Deus Ex Universe was announced last year, and we've heard very little about it since. Studio head David Anfossi described Universe as "an ongoing, expanding and connected game world built across a generation of core games." It will span several forms of media including games, books, comics, graphic novels, and more.

Eidos Montreal also said that though it has a history of using existing engines for its games, the team's "creative vision" was limited by older technology -- paving the way for Dawn Engine. The image above was taken directly from the engine.
