Details on Bloodborne's Co-op Mode and Gameplay.

During a Bloodborne panel today at the PlayStation Experience, the game's director, Hidetaka Miyazaki, went even more in-depth than the keynote earlier in the day.

Here's a quick run-down of a few of Miyazaki's notes from the panel:
  • Over 10 maps in the world.
  • Each map is unique with it's own "situation."
  • The Chalice dungeon is a multi-layered map located in the city's lower levels
  • Procedurally generated, but massive, spanning the entire underground area of the city.
  • Each area in the underground has a holy chalice; finding that allows you to break the seal and access another section.
  • By multi-layer, that means there are three layers to present different surprises and traps to widen the game's strategy
  • After generating your dungeon through the Holy Chalice ritual, it stays fixed. That allows players the opportunity to master each dungeon while still providing "fresh and interesting" experiences.
  • Assume the difficulty level of the dungeons is high. They won't be easy to breeze through.
  • Like Demon's Souls, the focus on is on the sense of accomplishment and achievement after clearing a dungeon.
  • Increase the scale of sharing. Players will be able to share generated dungoens and the methods they used to complete them. You can narrow those down to specific communities or just a close group of friends.
  • The Chalice Dungeon isn't tied into the main story; it's optional.
And points from the Q&A:
  • Character customization will be about on level with Dark Souls II, but there will also be some unique features. As an action-RPG, it'll have everything "to be expected from an RPG."
  • The team is working to keep the game running at the highest frame rate they can, and the final specifications will depend on what works best for the experience.
  • There is PvP in the game.
  • There might be something along the lines of the fight in Dark Souls II where you took on the role of a boss and fought against another player.
  • The concept of dying and Hollowing from Demon's/Dark Souls will exist in some form in Bloodborne as well.
  • The dungeon you saw during the keynote was made for the presentation; the actual dungeons will be much larger and more complex.
  • The boss characters are also part of the randomly generated element.

Arena Shooter "Drawn to Death" Coming to PS4.

David Jaffe, the creator of the God of War series, has announced Drawn to Death, a multiplayer third-person shooter that takes place inside of a student's notebook.

Jaffe described the game as a third-person, four player arena shooter, which is both fast-paced and tactical.

"Drawn To Death will be an arena shooter like you’ve never played before," Jaffe said. "Part of the reason for this is our unique gameplay. And part of the reason is that the game takes place inside the notebook of a very creative teenage kid; it’s a violent and bizarre landscape filled with all of the weird, amazing, passionate, and exciting fantasies that are swimming around in the head of our teenage artist."

Jaffe said that the wide variety of playable characters will have different weapons, special abilities and buffs. Some of these are obvious, and some of these players will have to discover over time, long after the game launches, Jaffe said.

Jaffe revealed the game at Sony's PlayStation Experience event in Las Vegas today, and said it's a collaboration between his new studio, The Bartlet Jones Supernatural Detective Agency, and Sony's San Diego Studio.

Finally, Jaffe said players can sign up for early access and a limited in-game mystery item at drawntodeath.com.

New God of War Game?!

A new game in the God of War series is in development at Sony Santa Monica, the studio's Creative Director Cory Barlog let slip today at the PlayStation Experience event in Las Vegas.

Barlog confirmed that the game was in development in response to a question from a fan during the God of War retrospective panel. According to a tweet from Santa Monica Studio's official account, he probably wasn't supposed to.

According to a report from IGN, Barlog said the game was definitely not going to be a prequel, but it might be a reboot for the series. Barlog also said the game is very early in development, and that he hoped to share more in the next year or two.

God of War III director Stig Asmussen left Sony Santa Monica back in march. He did not work on God of War: Ascension, the last game in the series released in 2013, and was reportedly leading development on a new IP that Sony canceled as part of a round of layoffs.

Santa Monica Studios announced several games at the PlayStation Experience today.

The Misadventures of P.B. Winterbottom developer The Odd Gentleman has debuted the first footage of its King's Quest reboot at The Video Game Awards.

Series creators Roberta and Ken Williams had just accepted the Industry Icon award from The Last of Us director Neil Druckmann. While the Williams aren't working on the reboot, Roberta said that she's seen some of it and was very happy with how it was coming along.

Based on its debut trailer below, it doesn't look particularly point-and-clicky and appears to be more of a third-person puzzle platformer along the lines of something like Tomb Raider, only with little to no combat.

King's Quest is coming to PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC in autumn 2015.
